New Suzuki Alto

Suzuki is unveiling the all-new Alto at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. It has CO2 emissions of just 103g/km – which is excellent, but what a shame Suzuki couldn’t get the figure under the 100g/km barrier.

This emissions figure translates to a fuel economy of 62.7mpg, which is impressive from a petrol engine. Its drag coefficient of just 0.30 helps its efficiency.

The three cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine produces 68PS and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, and a four-speed automatic transmission is available as an option.

The 4 seat supermini has Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), which can control the engine and apply the brakes during cornering and under acceleration.

Full UK specifications will be released closer to the launch date in March 2009, however you can expect the Alto to be competitively priced.
