Suzuki SX4

Suzuki’s SX4, available in two or four-wheel drive, has minor revisions for 2010, including a petrol engine with lower emissions.

There’s a new ‘SZ’ grading structure in line with other Suzuki models; SZ3, SZ4 and SZ5 4X4 and the UK line-up offers two engine options – one petrol and one diesel.

The 1.6-litre VVT Euro 5 petrol engine offers 10 per cent more power, 10 per cent lower fuel consumption (45.6mpg for 2WD manual models) and 12 per cent fewer emissions, now emitting 143g/km. The new 120PS unit is available in either SZ3 or SZ4 2WD (front-wheel drive) format or as a 4×4 SZ5 model with selectable/automatic four-wheel drive, available from April 2010.

The 4×4 has intelligent all-wheel drive technology with three modes – 2WD, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock – and manages 43.5mpg, not bad for a petrol 4×4.

Meanwhile the 90PS 1.6 DDiS diesel engine, sourced from Peugeot, has emissions of 129g/km with combined fuel consumption of 57.6 mpg. It will be available in SZ4 trim from April 2010.

The 2WD petrol models are on sale now, priced from £11,640 for the 1.6 SZ3 5-speed manual.
