Renault M

The new Renault Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet offers another option for people who want a convertible together with low emissions.

With a choice of three petrol and three diesel engines, there should be something for everyone.

The petrol engine line-up consists of a 1.6 16V 110hp engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, a TCe 130 (Turbo Control efficiency) with a six-speed manual gearbox, and a 2.0 16V 140hp engine available with the new continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The diesel engine range comprises the following Euro5-homologated powerplants: the dCi 110 DPF, mated either to the brand new six-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) dual-clutch automatic transmission or to a manual six-speed gearbox; or a dCi 130 DPF or dCi 160 DPF, both with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The New Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet is the first Renault to use this new six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Based on DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) technology, it has CO2 emissions and fuel consumption comparable to those of a vehicle equipped with a manual gearbox, along with fast, smooth, automatic gearshifts.

In the design department, the new Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet, like its predecessor, has a large, folding glass roof. The fully-automatic, electro-hydraulic opening mechanism of the two-part roof enables the driver to lower the top in 21 seconds at the press of a button.

As well as the removable mesh deflector screen located behind the front seats, there’s also a fixed glass wind deflector positioned behind the back seat headrests which Renault claims enables four people to enjoy buffet-free driving at speeds of up to almost 60mph.

The car has rollover hoops that deploy automatically if sensors detect that a rollover is imminent. The torsional rigidity of the bodyshell has also been uprated by 80 per cent compared with Mégane II Coupé-Cabriolet.

The new Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show (4-14 March) and sales will begin this spring.
