The new Volkswagen Eos is now available to order in the UK, with emissions as low as 125 g/km CO2.
The new Eos, launched at the Los Angeles Motor Show, has a revised look and new equipment. It has a five-piece metal folding hard top complete with an integrated glass sunroof. For the first time, remote roof opening and closing is also available.
Powering the Eos is a range of TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines ranging from 122 PS to 210 PS, each equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox or, on selected models, the option of a six-speed DSG gearbox.
The Eos SE 2.0-litre TDI BlueMotion Technology, with a six-speed manual gearbox, produces 140 PS, emits 125 g/km CO2, and costs £24,570. With the DSG option, the emissions rise to 139 g/km CO2.
You can even get BlueMotion Technology on petrol engines; the VW Eos SE 1.4-litre TSI BlueMotion Technology , also with a six-speed manual gearbox, has an output of 122 PS with 144 g/km CO2, and this costs £22,895.
The new model has now been brought into line with the styling direction adopted by the Polo, Golf and Passat, with a new bumper, a horizontal grille, a set of new headlights similar to those found on the Golf as well as a new bonnet and front wings. At the rear new light units and a bumper are joined by fresh interior trims and even the option of a new leather finish that reflects the sun’s rays to prevent it heating up as normal leather would.
The revised Eos has a starting price of £22,895 (with 20% VAT) and the first examples will arrive in the UK in early 2011.
