The electric Renault Twizy will go on sale in the UK at the start of next year priced at £6,690, and you can reserve one now.
There will be two versions of the Twizy, the Urban and Technic, both powered by a 17hp motor. In higher specification Technic trim the Twizy will cost £7,400. There will also be a monthly battery lease cost for both versions, which will be £40 including VAT for a 36 month/4,500 miles per year agreement.
The Twizy has a top speed of 50 mph and Renault claims that it gets around town faster than a traditional city car thanks to its compact dimensions which also allow easy parking. It offers two occupants – sitting in tandem, one behind the other – greater safety compared with a two-wheeled vehicle.
With immediate torque from its electric motor, the Twizy has silent acceleration comparable with that of a scooter.
The Twizy’s battery fully charges in just three and a half hours using a domestic electrical supply via a spiral cable stowed behind a flap at the front.
The Twizy’s low weight (450kg, including the 100kg battery) helps its operational range of 62 miles (NEDC standard cycle). In everyday use, this figure can vary depending on driving conditions.
It has 31 litre – 55 litre lockable rear storage under the rear seat.
Accessories for the Twizy include scissors doors, rear parking sensors, an all-purpose bag with a capacity of 50 litres, an audio kit including Bluetooth connectivity plus a USB connector, a jack socket and an Apple connector.
It will have a range of customisation accessories (coloured alloy wheels, decals) enabling owners to personalise their Twizy.
Customers can now pre-reserve their Twizy online with a £20 deposit. Customers who pre-reserve their Twizy will be contacted on a priority basis when the car goes on sale with a view to confirming their order.
