Vauxhall/Opel is to reveal a two-seater electric concept car with ‘production potential’ at this month’s Frankfurt show.
It has a 60 mile range and a 75 mph top speed.
Vauxhall says that it could revolutionise urban transport, especially for younger drivers and those on a very tight budget, as it will be ‘highly affordable’.
The concept has two seats in a tandem layout, and its light weight – around a third of that of a small modern car – suggests that it will be agile and fun to drive.
Inspired by the Ampera , the concept has the potential to create a new class of light-weight, zero-emissions electric vehicles in the UK and Europe.
More details will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 13 September.
