Transport Minister to give keynote address at LCV2013August 29, 2013
Transport Minister Norman Baker MP will give the keynote address at LCV2013, the UK’s largest low carbon vehicle event, which features Green Car Guide as media partner.
Set to attract over 2,000 delegates, LCV2013 will take place in Millbrook on 4th – 5th September 2013. Delegates can register for free at www.cenex-lcv.co.uk .
Appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport in May 2010, Norman Baker’s responsibilities include regional and local transport, buses and taxis, rail performance, as well as low carbon vehicles. Amongst his most significant ministerial achievements is the £600 million Local Sustainable Transport Fund which has seen, with match funding, £1 billion of investment in sustainable transport projects across the country. The fund has economic growth and cutting carbon at its core and includes cycle and bus schemes.
Transport Minister Norman Baker MP said, “The Government is making an unprecedented commitment to a low-carbon road transport future, and it is encouraging to see how the take-up of electric cars is growing.
“Our goal is to provide clear support for investment in research and development, and clear support for the car-user as well, to make motoring greener.
“Collaboration and sharing expertise is going to be key in driving the industry forward which is why events like LCV2013 are so invaluable.”
“We are honoured to have Norman Baker MP join us at LCV2013” said Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex. “The recent announcements of additional Government funding for low carbon vehicle innovation highlight the strategic importance assigned to low carbon vehicle investment in the UK. Government and industry players are committed to sustained effort to support what is expected to be a gradual uptake of low carbon vehicles and we look forward to Mr Baker’s keynote address.”
The LCV event has established its unique positioning for the Low Carbon Vehicle community, attracting UK and international visitors and combines a technology exhibition with broad B2B focus, a Ride & Drive in a test track environment, networking activities and an extensive seminar programme. LCV2013 delegates will be able to attend seminar sessions taking place across three conference streams over both days of the event.
