Nissan LEAF: 100,000 sales and 1,000 quick chargersFebruary 3, 2014
Over 100,000 Nissan LEAFs have now been sold globally, after just three years on sale. The 100,000th model was delivered to a British buyer in Hampshire.
Also, 1,000 quick chargers have now been installed in Europe – with the 1,000th charger being in the UK.
A CHAdeMO quick charger can recharge the batteries of a Nissan LEAF from zero to 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes, and at zero cost.
This latest charger is part of a network of 195 chargers in the UK, which is forming electric corridors across the country, linking major towns and cities. In the UK, Nissan has been working with partners including IKEA, Moto, Roadchef, Welcome Break and Nissan dealers to create this rapidly growing network, with 124 quick chargers installed in 2013.
It’s expected that over 1,800 quick charger points will be installed across Europe by the end of 2014.
Apart from this all-electric Nissan model, the Nissan e-NV200 (launched in 2014), the Citroen C-Zero, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and Peugeot iON can all use the quick chargers.
