Tesla Model S wins 2014 BusinessGreen Car of the Year Award

BusinessGreenCarOfTheYear2014Even though Tesla has existed as a car company for barely 10 years, the all-electric Tesla Model S has won the 2014 BusinessGreen Car of the Year Award.

On 2 July 2014, 600 executives, entrepreneurs, politicians and campaigners from across the green economy gathered in London for the fourth annual BusinessGreen Leaders Awards.

The Awards were more competitive than ever, with over 260 entries whittled down to a shortlist of 130, each one a demonstration of the green economy’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.

James Murray, Editor of BusinessGreen, said this about Tesla on the night: “Our special panel of green car judges hailed Tesla’s Model S as ‘a deeply impressive product’. They said that when combined with the company’s network of free Supercharger stations, the Model S comprehensively answers range-based objections to the adoption of electric propulsion. It also brings fresh thinking to vehicle construction and interior design, making it a worthy winner of this Green Car of the Year Award.”

The award judges were Paul Clarke, editor of www.GreenCarGuide.co.uk; Andrew Leadbetter, chief contributor to www.GreenCarGuide.co.uk; Lem Bingley, www.GreenMotor.co.uk; and Antony Ingram and Richard Lane, freelance green motoring journalists.
