A new range of Audi A7 Sportback models, including a 60 mpg V6 TDI ultra, becomes available to order in the UK this week with first deliveries in the last quarter of 2014. Priced from £45,875, the latest, simplified A7 Sportback line-up combines enhanced EU6-compliant engines with styling revisions, new LED headlights and tail lights including ‘sweeping’ indicators, revised interior finishes and upgraded infotainment.
Alongside revised specifications with increased standard equipment, the A7 Sportback will benefit from an ‘ultra’ model which is available in either SE Executive or Sport specification. With the ultra package, the heavily modified 215 bhp single-turbo 3.0-litre V6 is capable of returning 60.1mpg, corresponding to CO2 emissions of 122 grams per kilometre, and a seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission newly developed specifically for front-wheel-drive applications helps to maximise its 295 lb ft (400Nm) peak torque output and promises keener response than the multitronic CVT transmission used previously. In the TDI ultra the 0-62mph sprint takes 7.3 seconds on the way to a top speed of 149mph.
All versions of the new A7 Sportback are available with four-mode adaptive air suspension, and feature new light units, a revised single frame grille, new bumpers, which have been subtly resculpted, and wider trapezoidal exhaust pipes.
The full range includes three variants of the 3.0 litre diesel unit ranging from 215 bhp to 316 bhp and two petrol options with the 3.0 TFSI producing 329 bhp and the 4.0 TFSI 552 bhp. As ever there are several quattro variants but the fuel sipping ultra is only available in front wheel drive.
