New Fiat 500 Diesel and Eco Petrol Models

There are two new Fiat 500 models promising improved economy, a 1.3-litre MultiJet II 95hp diesel, and a 1.2-litre 69hp ‘Eco’ petrol model.

The new Fiat 500 1.3-litre MultiJet II 95hp joins the Fiat Panda as the only diesel-powered vehicles available in the city car segment. The Fiat 500 1.3 MultiJet II 95hp offers business users low tax liabilities and minimal running costs.

With second-generation MultiJet technology and a variable geometry turbocharger, the new FIAT 500’s 1.3-litre, turbodiesel engine produces 95hp and 200Nm of torque.

This results in a 0-62 mph time of 10.7 seconds with a top speed of 112mph, while its efficiency technologies – including a smart alternator, rapid engine warm-up, variable oil pump displacement and Start & Stop – offer reduced running costs thanks to an official combined cycle fuel economy figure of 83.1mpg and CO2 emissions of just 89 g/km.

Available in Pop Star and Lounge trim levels, prices for the FIAT 500 1.3 MultiJet II 95hp start at £14,165 for the hardtop 500 Pop Star and £16,815 for the convertible 500C Pop Star.

Prices for the FIAT 500 start at just £10,890 for the 1.2 litre Pop with the TwinAir Turbo engines, producing either 85hp or 105hp.

Fiat has also launched a 1.2-litre 69hp ‘Eco’ petrol model which is equipped with a host of efficiency technologies including a smart alternator, improved underbody aerodynamics and low rolling resistance 15-inch tyres, as well as Start & Stop which is standard across the FIAT 500 range.

As a result of these combined technologies, the official CO2 emissions figure for the FIAT 500 1.2 ‘Eco’ is reduced from 110 to just 99g/km which, in turn, cuts the annual road tax bill from £20 to £0 and reduces company car BIK tax liability from 17% to just 14% compared to the standard 1.2 69hp model.

Official fuel economy figures also improve for the new ‘Eco’ model which can now achieve 58.9 MPG (urban cycle), 70.6 MPG (extra urban cycle) and 65.7 MPG (combined cycle) compared to the standard 1.2 69hp (51.4 / 65.7 / 60.1 MPG respectively).

Available in Pop Star and Lounge trim levels, prices for the FIAT 500 1.2 ‘Eco’ start at just £11,865 with the convertible FIAT 500C 1.2 ‘Eco’ priced from £14,515 (both in Pop Star specifications).
