The DS E-TENSE is a 100% electric-powered supercar that produces 516Nm of torque, 402hp and zero emissions.
The two-wheel drive E-TENSE also has a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds, a 155 mph top speed, and a 190 mile ‘mixed cycle’ range, or a 220 mile urban cycle range.
DS claims that the E-TENSE encapsulates the brand’s stylistic and technological vision, and points towards DS’s future with its high-performance electric powertrain.
DS – a Formula E World Championship competitor – says that its ambition with the DS E-TENSE is to create a high-performance electric GT car that brings together state-of-the-art technology and avant-garde design.
The lithium-ion batteries are situated under the car’s two-seater carbon fibre monocoque chassis, which keeps the centre of gravity low and enables even torque distribution between the axles.
The DS E-TENSE has independent superimposed double wishbone suspension, with a flat underbody to improve aerodynamic performance. As with most electric cars, even with its carbon fibre chassis, it’s hardly a lightweight, weighing 1.8 tonnes.
Specially developed Michelin Pilot Supersport tyres are designed to cope with the high torque electric powertrain.
DS needs something to differentiate itself, the E-TENSE looks great and could be the solution.
