DS Automobiles is opening orders for its 100% electric DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE B-SUV with a 200 mile range and the 300hp DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 plug-in hybrid SUV with a zero emission range of 31 miles based on the WLTP drive cycle. Both models will initially be available in France, Switzerland and Norway.

The electric drivetrain of DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE is made up of a 100kW (136hp) electric motor with 260Nm of torque and a 50kWh Lithium-ion battery with a system for recovering energy during deceleration and braking. The range is 200 miles (WLTP drive cycle), or 267 miles on the NEDC drive cycle and acceleration from 0 to 30mph in 3.3 seconds.

Three driving modes are offered: ECO to maximise range, NORMAL, and SPORT with extra torque. These are complemented by two energy recovery options, NORMAL to simulate the behaviour of an internal combustion engine, and BRAKE.

Range is maximised by the ability to pre-set cockpit and battery temperature before driving and incorporates an efficient heating pump. The 100kW rapid charging adds 5.5 miles of range every minute and will complete an 80% charge in 30 minutes. For charging the battery at home, DS is offering connected DS Smart Wallbox. A three-phase version will allow a complete charge in only 5 hours. The version with single-phase enables a 100% battery charge in 8 hours.

The DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 plug-in hybrid capable of covering 31 miles (WLTP drive cycle) on electric power. With its 200hp petrol engine and two electric motors, DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 has a total power output of 300hp and 450Nm of torque with four-wheel drive.

The ‘ELECTRIC’ mode gives an electric range of 31 miles (WLTP cycle) at up to 84 mph. ‘SPORT’ mode prioritises power and ‘HYBRID’ mode automatically optimises vehicle performance with energy consumption. CO2 emissions are 49g/km (WLTP drive cycle) with a combined fuel consumption of 128.4mpg (WLTP drive cycle).

The battery in the DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 charges in one hour, or 45 minutes from a DS Wallbox.
