The DS 9 is an all-new large executive saloon with a 360hp E-TENSE plug-in hybrid powertrain. This is comprised of a PureTech turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor combined to deploy 225hp and capable of travelling between 25 and 31 miles in zero emissions (WLTP) mode.
The electric motor, through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, can deliver maximum power of 80kW (110hp) and 320Nm and can be used to drive in zero emissions mode up to 84mph. The DS 9 also has Hybrid and Sport modes as well as an E-Save function to preserve battery charge.
The DS 9 will be available with two more E-TENSE power units – the first with 250hp, two-wheel drive plus increased range capability, and the second – a 360hp powertrain with an intelligent four-wheel drive transmission.
A 225hp solely PureTech petrol engine model will also be available. All models are equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION features a camera that scans the road, level sensors, accelerometers and drivetrain sensors which record every movement so that the system can prepare the damping of each wheel for road imperfections in order to improve ride comfort.
There is also DS NIGHT VISION which reads the road at night. The infrared camera in the front grille detects pedestrians, cyclists and animals on the carriageway up to 100 metres ahead. The driver gets a picture in infrared on their large digital instrument display and will see danger outlined in yellow, then in red.
Created in France and produced in China, DS 9 is a car that will be sold around the world with sales commencing during the second half of 2020.
