The new Audi A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e S line Competition plug-in hybrid is a new, more powerful version of the existing Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e model.
The A3 Sportback 45 TFSI has a 37-mile electric range, resulting in economy of up to 235.4 mpg and CO2 output as low as 29 g/km, giving a Benefit-in-Kind taxation rate for business users of 10%.
Like its sister model, the new A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e is equipped with a 1.4-litre combustion engine with 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque which is complemented by an electric motor producing 80 kW and 330 Nm of torque, giving a total system power of 245PS and 400 Nm of system torque. This is a 41 PS and 50 Nm power and torque advantage over the A3 40 TFSI e.
The electric motor is integrated into the housing of the six-speed S tronic transmission, which drives the front wheels.
The 13 kWh lithium-ion battery can be recharged in around five hours using a domestic AC wallbox charger.
The A3 Sportback 45 TFSI can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 6.8 seconds, and onto a top speed of 144mph, with a top speed on electric power of 87mph.
In “Auto Hybrid” mode, which is the main operating mode, the combustion engine and the electric motor work together.
In “Battery hold” or “Battery charge” modes, the hybrid management maintains the state of charge of the battery at a constant level or increases it.
Electric drive can be prioritised using the EV button.
The new Audi A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e S line Competition plug-in hybrid will be available in the UK from early 2021, with pricing to be confirmed nearer to the launch.
