The new Kia Sportage includes a Plug-in Hybrid model which combines a 13.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack, a 66.9kW electric motor and a 1.6-litre T-GDI engine.
The powertrain combination delivers a total system power output of 265PS, with 180PS from the internal combustion engine.
An electronically-controlled AWD system makes sure power is optimally distributed between the front and rear wheels depending on road conditions and driving situations.
A new Terrain Mode gives the Sportage capabilities in more challenging conditions such as snow, mud and sand. When not in Terrain Mode, the Sportage defaults to Drive Mode, with the driver selecting from Comfort, Eco or Sport settings.
A new-generation Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS) provides continuous damping control in real-time.
Thanks to the battery sitting under the floor, luggage capacity is 591 litres, or the rear seats can fold down in a 40:20:40 split allowing for 1,780 litres of cargo space.
