The Volkswagen ID. LIFE Concept is a fully electric entry-level compact family crossover model for the small car segment which will cost approximately 20,000 euros and will be available from 2025.
Unlike the Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4, which are rear-wheel drive, the Volkswagen ID. LIFE Concept will be front-wheel drive. It will have a 57 kWh battery, giving a range of around 250 miles, and a 172 kW (234 PS) electric motor, delivering a 0-62mph acceleration time of 6.9 seconds.
The ID. LIFE will incorporate sustainable materials including wood and recycled bottles. Featuring a video game console and projector, which can play music, films and games from a phone, Volkswagen says that the car can be converted into a cinema or gaming lounge, reflecting the younger target market for the urban vehicle.
The front and rear seating can be completely folded down, allowing a bed, or cargo possibilities, there’s a removable roof, and cameras and a display replace both the exterior and interior mirrors.
By 2030, Volkswagen aims to increase the share of all-electric models in total vehicle sales in Europe to at least 70 per cent and in North America and China to at least 50 per cent.
