The Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive is now available in Europe. Customers in the UK can now order the fully electric mid-size SUV, starting at £51,990 with deliveries starting in December 2022. The Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive is due to have a range of up to 283 miles (or 267 miles on 20-inch Induction Wheels – compared to 351 miles for the Model Y All-Wheel Drive – Long Range on 19-inch Gemini Wheels).
The Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive is the most affordable offering in the Model Y range. It comes as standard with Autopilot, Premium Interior (including heated front and rear seats, and heated steering wheel) and Premium Audio which includes 13 speakers, one subwoofer, two amps and immersive sound.
Similar to All-Wheel Drive and Performance variants, the front trunk and split-folding second-row seats provide a maximum cargo volume of 2,158 litres. The Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive can also tow up to 1600 kg.
The Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive has a a maximum charging rate of 170 kW (compared to 250 kW for the other Model Y versions) and access to Tesla’s Supercharger network of well over 9,000 chargers in Europe and to third party networks.
The Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive connects with the Tesla mobile app for features such as remote unlock, remote pre-conditioning, location tracking and Speed Limit Mode.
The first Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive models for Europe are being built at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai.
