MG Cyberster electric two-seater convertible sports car

If you want an electric two-seater convertible sports car then you have a total of zero choices at the moment, however MG is coming to the rescue with its Cyberster.

The MG Cyberster Concept was due to have a 500-mile range and a 0-62 mph acceleration time of less than three seconds, although these figures haven’t been confirmed for the production show car on display at Auto Shanghai 2023.

What we do know is that the Cyberster will be available with a single 309 bhp electric motor as well as 536 bhp dual motors. The single motor model weighs 1,850 kg, while the dual motor variant weighs 1,985 kg. The Cyberster also measures 4,535mm in length, which makes it significantly larger than the Mazda MX-5, which is 3,915mm long. The Cyberster features ‘scissor doors’ and a ‘yoke’ steering wheel.

The Cyberster is expected to arrive for sale in the UK and Europe in the summer of 2024 – the year of MG’s 100th anniversary.

The Cyberster is finally a product from MG – backed by Chinese company SAIC Motor – that evokes memories of cars such as the MGB Roadster from the 1960s and ’70s.
