Citroën ë-C3

New electric Citroën ë-C3 priced at under £23,000

You’ll soon be able to buy an electric car for less than £23,000: the Citroën ë-C3.

The Citroën ë-C3 has a 44kWh LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery offering a range of 199 miles, along with 100kW DC rapid charging which can give a 20% to 80% charge in 26 minutes.

Standard AC charging from 20% to 80% takes around 4 hours 10 minutes using 7kW power, or 2 hours 50 minutes if 11kW charging is available (an 11kW on-board charger is an option).

A 113hp electric motor will deliver a 0-62 mph acceleration time in around 11 seconds and a top speed of 84 mph.

The ë-C3 will have three trim levels, ‘YOU!’, ‘PLUS’, and ‘MAX’. In entry-level ‘YOU!’ trim the Citroën ë-C3 will be one of the most affordable electric cars on the market, but it’s worth noting that although ‘PLUS’ and ‘MAX’ trim levels feature a 10.25-inch colour infotainment screen, this is only optional on the ‘YOU!’ version.

‘My Citroën Play with Smartphone Station’ with a dedicated app is offered as standard equipment on the ‘YOU!’ model to access music, radio, make calls, and provide navigation via a mobile device, which can be ‘docked’ in a built-in smartphone holder.

All ë-C3 models feature Advanced Comfort Seats and Advanced Comfort Suspension with ‘progressive hydraulic bump stops’, which are designed to smooth out the impacts from uneven road surfaces.

The ë-C3, which has grown slightly in size compared to the previous C3, including by 100mm in height and it has increased ground clearance, is built on the ‘global Smart Car platform’, which is already in use in India and South America, but the Citroën will be the first EV from Stellantis to use the platform.

Citroën says that an ë-C3 with a 124-mile range will be on sale in 2025 with prices starting at 19,990 Euros, although this model isn’t yet confirmed for the UK.
