Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric

New Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric: a retro-futuristic reinvention

The new Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric has been officially unveiled today at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.

It comes with a choice of a 52 kWh battery, using NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) technology and a simplified architecture that means it now weighs less than 300kg, with a 150 hp motor and a 250-mile range, or a 40 kWh battery and 120 hp motor with a 186-mile range.

The 52 kWh battery comes with a 100 kW DC charger, which can replenish the battery from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes, or an 11 kW AC 10-100% charge takes 4 hours 30 minutes.

Both powertrains are equipped with a heat pump to maximise their efficiency, as well as bidirectional charging with V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) functionality that can power external devices from the battery or feed electricity back into the grid.

The B-segment Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric, at 4.14m in length, is larger than the Renault 5 – a car with which it shares its platform and 68% of its components. The car features a long wheelbase in order to maximise interior space, and there’s a flat-folding front passenger seat. The boot offers 420 litres of space, with a 35-litre underfloor area for the charging cable.

Like the Renault 5, the styling of the Renault 4 is described by the brand as a ‘retro-futuristic reinvention’, complete with a single-piece (illuminated) grille, three-part rear lights, and the shape of the rear quarter window. A large electric canvas roof opens at the touch of a button or by voice control.

The Renault 4 is available in Glacier White, Urban Grey, Diamond Black, Carmine Red, Terracotta Brown and Cloud Blue, as well as an exclusive new colour, Hauts-de-France Green. Two-tone options will also be available.

The interior features dual horizontal screens along with ‘Reno’, a digital personal assistant, and a new One Pedal regenerative braking function.

The Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric also features My Safety Shield, a feature that can be found across the Renault product range, which allows drivers to activate their preferred safety settings at the touch of a button.

The Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric is planned to arrive in the UK in the middle of 2025, with specification and prices to be announced earlier in 2025.

The Renault 5 is also due in the UK in early 2025, and the Renault Twingo is another retro-inspired concept.
