Jaguar is going all electric and the Type 00 has now been unveiled, the concept for its new design approach. The company’s aim was to get attention. It seems that has worked.
Jaguar is an iconic brand with a long history, but it hasn’t been making money over recent years, so something had to change. The company isn’t building any cars at the moment, while it re-tools for electric production, and it will be 2026 before you can buy an all-electric Jaguar.
So the Type 00 is designed to show the direction of travel of Jaguar. It’s a concept, not a production car. It’s big, long, low, with a narrow glass area, a huge bonnet and elements of square styling at the front and back. Combined with the teaser social media campaign that came before the concept, it’s got people talking about Jaguar. Predictably, there are mixed opinions. But Jaguar has succeeded in getting more global attention than it has for years, and if only a small proportion of the global audience buy its £100,000+ products, that’s likely to be a better position than it’s in at the moment.
