Alpine A390

Alpine A390 electric sport fastback

The electric Alpine A390 sport fastback has been undergoing winter testing in the Arctic Circle in advance of being revealed on 27 May 2025 in Dieppe, in conjunction with the brand’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

Alpine says that it has been aiming to give the A390 five-seater Sport Fastback the performance, agility and driving pleasure of the A110.

With temperatures reaching -40°, and the extreme climatic conditions in Lapland reproducing conditions equivalent to five years of accelerated use, particular attention is paid to dynamic performance. Lapland is the perfect proving ground for testing the A390’s technologies, such as the three electric motor drive system and the five driving modes, including the new ‘Track Mode’ and Alpine Active Torque Vectoring. These tests in actual conditions are an opportunity for future buyers to experience the physical sensation of driving in extreme conditions and to refine the settings and interactions of the various systems.

Numerous features are also scrutinised, such as the heating, demisting, and defrosting quality, as well as the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) on snow.

The Alpine A390 combines a sports car and a fully-fledged five-seater (measuring 4,615 mm in length) with performance and technology. The A390 has been designed for daily use while also being capable of transforming into a genuine sports car.

The camouflage of the A390 reveals aerodynamic elements such as a bonnet blade which improves airflow over the top of the vehicle and a micro-perforated grille which optimally guides the air, while the large side scoops create a curtain of air to accelerate the natural flow.

The interior of the A390 features a sporty Nappa leather steering wheel with a flattened centre, and borrowed from the steering wheel of the Alpine Formula 1 car are three controls: OV (Overtake), RCH (Recharge) and Drive modes with direct access, with the appearance of a new driving mode, ‘Track’.

With a level of acceleration equivalent to that of the A110 R and sharp cornering performance, the new A390 model has sports car attributes yet can seat up to five passengers.
