The event is part of Mayor Rotheram’s broader commitment to becoming a greener, more sustainable city region, and will support the city region’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2035.

The Combined Authority has made significant strides in encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles, with plans for expanding charging infrastructure and promoting clean energy solutions across the region.

Councillor Steve Foulkes, Chair of Liverpool City Region Transport Committee, said:

“We are incredibly excited to bring this event to the heart of Liverpool City Centre. Power Up! is an important step in showing the public how electric vehicles can benefit both the environment and the economy. By bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and local residents, we hope to inspire even more people to make the switch to electric mobility and help us build a greener future for Liverpool.”

Councillor Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, said:

“As a city, Liverpool is at the forefront of the revolution that is moving us away from burning fossil fuels. So, naturally, we are delighted to support this fantastic event which can showcase to the public the advantages of going electric. Liverpool will have nearly 700 streetlamp EV chargers by this summer – making this city one of the best places for electric car owners and spearheading our drive to net zero.”
