The new Vauxhall Astra Electric will have price parity with the Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid Versions, and starting from £29,995 there’s more than a £5,000 saving compared to the outgoing model.
Astra Hatch and Sports Tourer models will also be available at the same price: no premium for the estate model is a unique offer in the marketplace.
The new Vauxhall Astra Electric is due to be available to order from June with UK deliveries from July.
The new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer feature refreshed design with an upgraded interior and a new electric powertrain.
The Astra Electric features a larger 58.3kWh battery with a range of up to 281 miles (WLTP preliminary) – a 22-mile increase from the previous model. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and battery pre-conditioning are now standard.
Across three trim levels – Griffin, GS, and top-of-the-range Ultimate – the new Astra offers the latest driving technologies and safety features, such as adaptive Intelli-Lux HD headlights, while an updated interior focuses on comfort and sustainability with Intelli-Seats made from 100% recycled materials.
A redesigned cabin includes physical buttons for key functions such as radio, climate control, and drive modes, and an improved seven-colour ambient lighting system. Intelli-Seats, specially developed by Vauxhall, now come as standard on every version.
Up to 1,339 litres of luggage can fit into the rear compartment of the hatchback with the seats folded down and the Astra Sports Tourer offers a load volume of up to 1,634 litres.
The Astra Electric is updated with a new 58.3kWh (gross) / 55.4kWh (net) battery and a 156PS electric motor, plus energy-saving technology such as battery preconditioning to increase range and driving efficiency. The Astra Electric accelerates from 0-62mph in 9.3 seconds, with the Sports Tourer taking 9.5 seconds; both models have a top speed of 106mph and produce 270Nm of torque.
An additional 22 miles has been gained to offer up to 281 miles of range for the hatchback, or 276 miles for the Sports Tourer (WLTP provisional). Three levels of regenerative braking, adjusted via paddles on the steering wheel, assist in energy recovery to help extend range during driving.
Astra Electric supports 100kW DC rapid charging, enabling a 20-80% recharge in just 32 minutes. An 11kW on-board charger is fitted as standard, enabling a 20-80% charge from an 11kW AC charger in 3h 20min, or 5 hours via a 7.4kW charger.
The new Astra Electric now offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for the first time as standard, offering the ability to charge external devices such as e-bikes without having to rely on other power sources when on the go.
Across all Astra hatchback and Sports Tourer models and powertrains, customers are offered three trim levels: Griffin, from £29,995; GS from £31,495; and Ultimate, from £33,995.
As with all Vauxhall electric cars, the Astra Electric is available with the Electric All In package to make the transition to electric easier than ever, with access to a variety of charging solutions to provide the ultimate in peace of mind electric motoring.
With the Electric All In offer, retail customers of Vauxhall’s electric range benefit from eight years of comprehensive roadside assistance, including emergency charging assistance and £500 credit towards one of the following:
