Kia has revealed full details of its Vision Meta Turismo concept at Milan Design Week a futuristic electric grand tourer with a rotating passenger seat, gaming-controller-inspired steering wheel and three “experience” modes.
The Vision Meta Turismo was first shown briefly in Korea in December 2025 to mark Kia’s 80th anniversary. The Milan reveal at Salone dei Tessuti is its full global debut, where it is on show until 26 April alongside other Kia EV concepts.
The concept reimagines the long-distance grand tourer as a digital-age experience. Three principles drive the design: performance driving, immersive digital interaction, and lounge-like space and comfort. Kia’s “Opposites United” design language manifests in soft sculptural surfaces against precise geometric edges, a low cab-forward stance and an ultra-slim wrap-around rear light bar inspired by jet aircraft canards.
The interior is more radical. The driver’s seat is purpose-built for focused driving with a light-frame structure, mesh fabric, slim instrument cluster while the passenger seat rotates 180 degrees when stationary, allowing face-to-face interaction with rear passengers. Optional analogue controllers can be slotted into the central tunnel, including a virtual “joystick” gear shifter with haptic feedback and simulated engine sounds, a launch-control button and a dial that adjusts virtual engine response and damper feel.
The steering wheel is inspired by gaming controllers and offers three driving modes:
– Speedster for performance driving, with wide-angle AR HUD and dynamic sound effects
– Dreamer for urban environments, layering AR content via the head-up display and optional AR glasses
– Gamer for stationary use, turning the car into a group gaming hub via an exterior projector and AR HUD
Concept cars rarely make production, but the steering, seat and HMI ideas in the Vision Meta Turismo are the kind that filter into Kia’s mainstream EVs over a five-year horizon. The styling language hints at where future Kia electric flagships above the EV9 may be heading.
