Volkswagen ID. Buzz updated with V2L, one-pedal driving and traffic light recognition

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is getting a software-led update for summer 2026, adding Vehicle-to-Load, one-pedal driving and Connected Travel Assist with automatic traffic light recognition.

The new V2L function uses the high-voltage battery to power external devices at up to 2.0kW continuously via an adapter on the Mode 3 charging socket, enough for electric grills, e-bikes or campsite equipment.

Connected Travel Assist replaces the previous Travel Assist and adds online data integration plus the ability to detect a red traffic light and bring the ID. Buzz to a complete stop within system limits. One-pedal driving is also new and allows the car to decelerate to a standstill through accelerator regulation alone.

Other changes include the new Innovision infotainment system with an in-car app store (audio and video streaming, parking, charging and gaming apps), redesigned physical buttons on a new multifunction steering wheel addressing a long-standing customer complaint about the ID. range, touch controls, and an improved driver attention monitoring system.

The update will reach UK customers from summer 2026.
