The new all-electric Toyota bZ4X Touring is priced from £45,995 for Design and £51,695 for Excel trim.
Design trim models are front-wheel drive and Excel models are all-wheel drive; based on our review of the all-wheel drive Toyota bZ4X, the Toyota bZ4X Touring promises capable off-road performance.
Design trim features and roof rails, a 14.3-inch Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system, wireless smartphone charger, heated front seats, power back door and Panoramic View Monitor.
The Excel model is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, Skyview panoramic roof, synthetic leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a digital rear-view mirror and an extended Toyota Safety Sense package with Front Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist, plus Advanced Parking Assist and Downhill Assist Control. A JBL premium audio system is available as an option for the Excel grade.
The bZ4X Touring is 140mm longer than the bZ4X, resulting in a length of 4,830mm, with an increase in the load compartment capacity by a third – an extra 148 litres – to 600 litres.
The AWD option, with Toyota’s new eAxle, features intelligent XMODE drive control technology and Grip Control, providing extra traction on rough surfaces,
Both AWD and FWD models are equipped with a 74.7kWh (gross capacity) lithium-ion battery giving an electric driving range of up to 366 miles, and – depending on grade – either an 11kW or a 22kW onboard charger. Maximum fast-charging capacity (DC) is 150kW.
The battery features Toyota’s latest advances in improving performance and charging times. It incorporates a new water cooling system and preconditioning function recently announced for the new bZ4X, which the driver can activate either manually, or automatically by navigating to a fast-charging station, to ensure the battery is at optimum temperature when charging starts. This is particularly useful in colder climates.
The maximum output for the front-wheel drive model is 221bhp and 376bhp for the all-wheel drive bZ4X Touring. The bZ4X Touring can also tow trailers up to 1,500kg.
The Touring adopts a series of styling details including a grained black finish for the wheel arches and black wheels as well as roof rails with a maximum roof load of 70kg.
The bZ4X Touring is available to order from June with deliveries to customers commencing in July.
