DENZA Z9 GT

DENZA Z9 GT EV prices start from £105,000

The DENZA Z9 GT EV, with 1,156PS of power, 1,210Nm of torque and a 0-62 mph time of 2.7 seconds, is priced from £105,000.

The Z9 GT launches with a fully electric powertrain, using a three-motor layout (one at the front and two at the rear) resulting in a combined power output of 1,156PS and 1,210Nm of torque. This allows the Z9 GT to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.7 seconds, and to a top speed of 167mph. Its 122kWh battery is capable of 373 miles of electric range.

At a later date, the DM plug-in hybrid priced from £95,000 will join the EV in the Z9 GT range. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain comprises three motors working in conjunction with a 63.82kWh battery. In fully electric mode, the Z9 GT DM can travel up to 126 miles on a single charge. However, a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine increases range to up to 500 miles on a full charge and a full tank of petrol.

The Z9 GT is the first BYD Group model to bring FLASH Charging to the UK. With speeds of up to 1,500kW possible, it allows the Z9 GT to recharge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, and 10% to 97% in only nine minutes – the equivalent of adding 323 miles of WLTP range. Even at -30°C the Z9 GT can recharge from 20% to 97% per cent in 12 minutes.

DENZA’s e³ platform features DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension which can adjust between two stiffness levels, prioritising either comfort or handling,

DiSus-A’s integration with DENZA’s Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) allows the suspension to communicate with the braking and the steering systems, with signal transmission times of as little as 10 milliseconds. These rapid reactions allow the Z9 GT to respond to a tyre blow-out, maintaining a straight, safe course within a lane at speeds of up to 112mph.

A rear axle steering system allows the rear wheels to turn in sync or independently of not only the front wheels, but also each other. This allows the Z9 GT to perform manoeuvres such as crab walking at up to 8.5 degrees, a 360° compass turn, and deliver a turning radius of just 5.35m – as little as many superminis. Dedicated parking assistant services include the ability of the Z9 GT to identify a space and then reverse into it – a process that can be activated both from the driver’s seat or remotely via the smartphone app.

All Z9 GTs are equipped with Nappa leather upholstery, with heating, ventilation and massage functions in front and outer second row seats. Rear passengers also benefit from extended leg rests and reclining backrests.

A 20-speaker Devialet sound system produces a total power output of 1,150W, and uses Dolby Atmos which directs sounds precisely around the cabin. A dual mode refrigerator with a four-litre capacity sits between the front seats – it can chill food and drinks to between -6°C and 6°C and it can also heat items between 35°C and 50°C.

Optional extras include digital side mirrors (£1,600), and 21-inch alloy wheels (£2,500) in place of the standard-fit 20-inch items. There are seven exterior paint finishes to choose from. Three shades, Obsidian Black, Sandstone Silver and Snow White, are available at no extra cost, while Emerald Green, Dolomite Slate and Midnight Blue cost an additional £2,500. Two matte finishes – Matte Copper and Matte Shadow Black – cost £4,500.
