The efficiency-focused Audi A2 is back, and this time it’s electric. The new Audi A2 e-tron shares a similar body shape to the original A2, but interestingly, its predecessor, which was either petrol or diesel-powered, didn’t have a grille, but the new A2, despite being electric, does have a grille. Huh?
The Audi A2 e-tron’s body shape has a slippery aerodynamic coefficient of 0.24, with three battery sizes being available, 52 kWh, 61 kWh and 84 kWh gross, offering ranges of 262 miles, 320 miles, and 391 miles or 401 miles, and maximum DC charging of 100 kW, 105 kW and 183 kW respectively.
The Audi A2 has moved from front to rear-wheel drive, with power output choices of 170 PS, 190 PS, 231 PS and 326 PS – the latter delivering a 0-62 mph time of just 5.7 seconds.
Optional bidirectional charging – Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home (when paired with compatible DC wall boxes) – turn the A2 e-tron into an energy storage system.
Prices start from £32,200 in the UK, with order books opening in October 2026 and first deliveries beginning in early 2027.
Aerodynamic features include a controllable cool-air intake, a largely enclosed underbody, gap reducers integrated into the wheel arch trims that narrow the gap between the tyre and the wheel arch, and newly developed aero wheels.
Instead of mechanical door handles, the A2 e-tron features a fully electric system with intelligent sensors to operate the doors. The door handles respond to the slightest touch: a gentle pull is all it takes to open the door. Locking requires only a light press on the sensor surface. An energy storage unit built into the door ensures that the doors can still be opened even if the onboard electrical system fails.
Optimized exterior mirror housings, door seals with dual sealing lines, and a water deflector channel along the window edges all contribute to low noise levels. A tailgate seal reduces wind noise in the area behind the antenna, where airflow velocity is particularly high. An acoustic glass windshield is installed as standard. Additional acoustic glass for the front door windows is available as an option.
The Audi A2 e-tron has a boot volume of 396 litres. With the rear seatbacks folded down, the capacity increases to 1,336 litres. A frunk with a volume of 13 litres is standard on the A2 e-tron 231 PS.
The interior of the A2 e-tron features a central design element of Softwrap – a soft, fabric-covered surface that extends from the dashboard across the door panels and into the rear.
The standard MMI panoramic display combines the 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and the 12.8-inch curved MMI touch display. An optional panoramic glass roof has 1.6 square metres of glass.
The Fidlock magnetic fastening system on the centre console and in the boot allows cupholders or charging cable bags to be attached with one click.
The A2 e-tron is available in two trim levels, base or sportier S line.
