Tips for Boosting your Uber Driver Rating

From Wednesday 16 January 2020, a clean air fee of 15p per mile will be included on every Uber trip picked up in London (within the M25). The money raised will go towards helping drivers upgrade to an electric vehicle (EV) and other clean air initiatives. People like the quiet, refined and emissions-free experience of electric cars, so an EV could help get Uber drivers ahead of the competition, but what are other ways that Uber drivers become 5-star rated? Below are a few helpful tips.

  1. Have A Quality Car

The quality of your car matters when it comes to driving for Uber. In fact, one of the reasons people switch from taking taxicabs to Uber as a mode of transportation is because of the quality of cars. Passengers these days prefer to travel in larger vehicles due to the amount of room they have.

Yes, these larger cars may cost more in terms of fuel and also insurance, however they often tend to pay off in other ways and if you compare taxi insurance to get the best value it may not be as prohibitive as you expect.

The truth is that newer cars will usually result in higher chances of getting 5-star ratings than older vehicles. Is your car between five and nine years old? If so, then consider upgrading to a newer vehicle.

  1. Keep Your Vehicle Clean

If you want to maximize your 5-star ratings, then keep your vehicle as clean as possible. Don’t eat food or drink beverages in your car unless you are actually going to throw everything out right after consuming them. Keep your vehicle free of trash. Remember, people judge you on first impressions.

  1. Go The Extra Mile

There are dozens of ways to go the extra mile as an Uber driver. Provide passengers with bottled water or let them charge their mobile phones. Let them choose the radio station. Doing such things increases your chances of getting 5-star ratings.

  1. Nice Gestures

Do stuff like opening the doors for your passengers. Loading their luggage into the car or providing them with an umbrella to use to keep them dry are other gestures you can do. Your Uber rating can skyrocket as a result of doing nice gestures.

  1. Street Knowledge

Ask your passengers if there is a preferred route they’d like you to take, and then ask them if you can use GPS if they don’t have a preferred route. Many drivers use Waze, but the Uber Driver App does have a functional map built within it. Also, always make sure you’re on time to pick up your passengers.

  1. Become A Tour Guide

Knowing what’s going on in the area you’re dropping passengers off in is a good way to start a conversation. It’s also a good way to make passengers feel comfortable and at ease. This is especially the case if your passengers are tourists.

  1. Be Creative

Are there big events coming up in the area?, because if there are, then spruce up your car by dressing it up. There are several ways to do this, and best of all you can be as creative as you want. Your passengers will notice the effort and they will be impressed. In turn, your Uber driving rating will likely increase.
