This is Nissans view of the future: the hydrogen-powered Nissan X-Trail Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV). The prototype, worth 1.3 million euro, is the first registered in the UK and available for testing on our roads.

Driving it is as straightforward as you would expect. Simply put it in the one forward gear, take off the handbrake, then accelerate, steer and brake. Thats it. And yes it does drive like you would imagine a milk float to drive but perhaps with a bit more fun, acceleration and nippiness.

British Sugar has opened the first bioethanol factory in the UK this week, making biofuel from locally-grown sugar beet. The £20 million site which is located in Wissington in Norfolk will produce 70 million litres of ethanol a year from 700,000 tonnes of sugar beet.
