Top 10 EVs Coming in 2025

The top electric cars coming in 2025 include city cars and small family cars, which is a welcome change from the large, heavy and expensive SUVs which have dominated the new electric car market over recent years. There really should be something for everyone. Some of these cars may have been officially launched in Europe towards the end of 2024, but it will be 2025 before we see them being driven out of showrooms in the UK.

The BMW Neue Klasse, and the X ‘Sports Activity Vehicle’ (SAV) version, are the new 3 Series and X3 respectively, and the production models will be here in 2025. The styling is bold and fuss-free, and they will feature the sixth generation of BMW eDrive, with an 800-volt system, enabling a 10 minute charge to deliver 186 miles of range.

Citroën ë-C3

Citroen e-C3

The Citroen e-C3 is another long-awaited small and ‘affordable’ EV, with prices starting from £21,990. It features a 44kWh battery which delivers a 199-mile range, along with 100kW rapid charging. There are two trim levels, PLUS and MAX. It will 2025 before we start seeing many e-C3s on the road in the UK.

As further evidence of more mainstream electric cars for consumers being rolled out by manufacturers, the all-electric Ford Puma Gen-E compact crossover has been revealed, bringing zero emission driving to Ford’s best-selling car in Britain for the first time, with prices starting at £29,995.

The Hyundai INSTER is a new EV that, shockingly, isn’t an SUV, instead it’s a ‘sub-compact urban EV’ expected to have a 220-mile electric driving range. It’s also due to be at the more affordable end of the EV pricing spectrum.

Kia EV3

Taking the well-received but very big Kia EV9 recipe and shrinking it, the Kia EV3 compact SUV is now on sale in the UK with an electric range of up to 375 miles – or 479 miles for the WLTP City driving cycle.

Porsche Macan Electric

The Porsche Macan Electric is hotly anticipated, but we’ve already driven a car built on the same platform, the Audi Q6 e-tron. The model line-up is comprised of the Macan Electric (from £68,500), Macan 4 Electric, Macan 4S Electric and Macan Turbo Electric – the latter with 639 PS and a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 3.3 seconds – from £96,900.

The Range Rover Electric promises to be even more capable off-road than its petrol counterpart thanks to its electric motors offering more precise control and faster reaction times, and it’s due to have an 850mm wading depth. It’s also expected to have an electric range of nearly 400 miles, together with 800-volt architecture delivering ultra-rapid charging times.
