Changan

Changan is one of China’s “big four” state-owned automakers, with roots going back to 1862 and annual production of more than two million vehicles. The company entered the UK market in 2024 through its Deepal premium EV sub-brand. Deepal’s UK line-up currently comprises the S07 mid-size SUV and the smaller S05, both built on Changan’s EPA1 electric platform and engineered for European markets. Changan also has long-standing technical partnerships with Ford and Mazda in China, and Mazda’s new 6e electric saloon was co-developed with Changan. The Avatr premium EV joint venture – backed by Changan, Huawei and battery giant CATL – is not yet on UK sale. Changan’s UK retail network is being built out through a mix of independent dealer partners and direct-sales models.
