MG is now one of the highest-volume EV brands in the UK, owned by China’s SAIC Motor. The MG4 EV – launched in 2022 and the brand’s most important UK model in a decade – proved that a Chinese-engineered EV could match European rivals on driving dynamics. It is joined by the refreshed MG ZS EV (now in its second generation), the MG5 EV estate, the new S5 EV family SUV, and the Cyberster two-seat electric roadster, which has revived MG’s sports car heritage in electric form. The new IM5 and IM6 (sold under MG’s premium IM sub-brand) extend the range further. MG’s entire UK strategy is now built around electrification, and the brand has shifted decisively away from its ICE roots.
