Omoda is the premium-leaning European brand of China’s Chery Automobile, one of the country’s largest carmakers and its biggest vehicle exporter. The brand entered the UK in 2024 with the Omoda 5 – sold in both petrol and electric (E5) versions – and is being followed by the larger Omoda 9, a flagship plug-in hybrid SUV with up to 700 miles of combined range. Omoda sits alongside Chery’s sister brand Jaecoo in the UK; both are sold through a fast-growing independent dealer network. Chery’s scale – more than 2.6 million vehicles produced in 2024 – gives Omoda significant engineering resources behind a relatively young European brand identity. The line-up is expected to expand quickly across multiple body styles and powertrains.
