Polestar is the electric-performance brand spun out of Volvo and now part of China’s Geely group. The Polestar 2 – a fastback saloon and the brand’s first volume model – has been comprehensively updated, with rear-wheel drive replacing the original front-wheel drive layout. Above it, the Polestar 3 large SUV (built in the US and South Carolina) and the Polestar 4 coupe-SUV (notable for its absent rear window) round out the current line-up, with the Polestar 5 grand tourer now in the UK, and the Polestar 6 roadster to follow. Polestar shares engineering with Volvo and uses Geely’s SEA and PMA platforms, but the brand has a distinct minimalist Scandinavian design identity and sells direct rather than through dealers.
