New Audi A6 e-tron with range of up to 463 miles

The Audi A6 has gone all-electric, and the A6 Sportback e-tron performance model has an official driving range of 463 miles.

As well as the Sportback body style, priced from £69,900, the A6 e-tron is also available as an Avant (priced from £71,700).

There’s also a 550PS S6 e-tron Sportback from £97,500, and the S6 e-tron Avant from £99,300.

The Audi A6 e-tron features the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE), shared with the recently launched Q6 e-tron.

The A6 e-tron Sportback has a drag coefficient of 0.21, making it the most aerodynamic series production Audi of all time, but also the most aerodynamic vehicle in the entire VW Group. The Avant has a drag coefficient of 0.24.

The A6 and S6 e-tron Sportback and Avant models feature a 100 kWh (94.9 kWh net) lithium-ion battery newly developed for the PPE.

The A6 Sportback e-tron performance and A6 Avant e-tron performance deliver 380PS from a single rear-mounted motor driving the rear wheels, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds for both A6 e-tron performance variants. The A6 Sportback e-tron and Avant e-tron performance models are capable of maximum driving ranges of up to 463 miles and 437 miles respectively.

The S6 Sportback e-tron and S6 Avant e-tron feature a motor on each axle producing a total of 550PS and delivering rear-biased quattro all-wheel drive, and resulting in a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds (with launch control). Driving ranges are up to 405 miles for the S6 Sportback e-tron and 388 miles for the S6 Avant e-tron.

The 800-volt platform gives the A6 Sportback e-tron performance a maximum DC charging capacity of 270 kW, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes, or delivering 192 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

A recuperation system is active for 95% of all braking processes and a standard heat pump helps to maximise efficiency by using the waste heat from the electric motors for interior heating and air conditioning.

S6 e-tron versions feature adaptive air suspension with controlled damping which positions the body’s ride height at four different levels. In the Audi drive select system’s efficiency mode, it lowers the body by 20mm (depending on speed) in the interest of aerodynamics, helping to optimise energy consumption and driving range.

Customers of the A6 e-tron performance models can choose from three specifications – Sport, S line and Edition 1 – while the S6 e-tron is available with a specially tailored version of the Edition 1 package, including rear OLED lighting which can be personalised with digital light signatures. It also features a new communication light designed to warn surrounding road users about hazards using special warning symbols.

Optional second-generation virtual exterior mirrors now fold electrically and have a flow-optimised shape which reduces the frontal area of the vehicle and improves the drag coefficient.

First UK customer deliveries of the Audi A6 e-tron are due in February 2025.
