Nissan Ariya updated for 2026 with new design and bi-directional charging

The 2026 Nissan Ariya has been updated with a refreshed exterior design, new technology and 11kW bi-directional charging, with prices starting from £37,000.

Nissan’s flagship electric crossover, on sale since 2021, gets a model-year refresh rather than a full mid-life redesign. The most visible change is at the front, where a redesigned body-coloured front panel and a reworked V-Motion signature give the Ariya a cleaner, more minimalist look. New 19-inch aluminium and resin wheels are fitted, and the colour palette is expanded with a new Plasma Green paint inspired by the aurora.

Inside, the central console has been redesigned to increase storage to 3.2 litres and incorporates a 15W wireless phone charger.

The 2026 Ariya is the first to get the latest generation of NissanConnect with Google built-in. Google Maps is integrated as standard with an in-car route planner that automatically adds charging stops based on real-time battery level, and the car will pre-condition the battery as it approaches a rapid charger to cut charging times. The NissanConnect Services app handles charging sessions, climate pre-conditioning and tyre pressure monitoring from a phone.

The bigger functional change is the new 11kW bi-directional on-board charger. This supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which lets the Ariya power external equipment – anything from a laptop to an electric cooker – at up to 3kW when stationary, using a dedicated connector. DC rapid charging is unchanged at up to 130kW.

Suspension tuning has been updated to improve ride stability and reduce vibrations over long distances, and the ProPILOT driver assistance system has been refined for faster, smoother responses in stop-and-go traffic.

The 2026 Nissan Ariya goes on sale in June with prices starting from £37,000 for the 63kWh Engage+, rising to £43,425 for the 87kWh Advance. First deliveries are expected from September. The Engage+ is expected to qualify for the UK government’s Electric Car Grant, subject to confirmation by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles – the £37,000 price does not include the anticipated grant.
