The new Volkswagen ID. Cross all-electric compact SUV has an entry-level price of around 28,000 euros with two battery sizes offering an electric driving range of up to 264 miles.
The ID. Cross will have three output levels (85 kW, 99 kW and 155 kW) and two battery sizes (37 kWh and 52 kWh net).
The five seat ID. Cross, which shares its platform with the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI, is 4,153 mm long with 475 litres of luggage space, with space under a variable boot floor. There’s also a 25-litre storage space under the bonnet.
Unlike the ID.3, the ID. Cross is front-wheel drive and uses a new MEB+ platform. It can be DC charged at up to 105 kW for the larger 52 kWh battery, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in around 24 minutes. The smaller battery has a power output of up to 90 kW and can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 23 minutes at a rapid DC charger.
The maximum AC charging capacity at a domestic wall box or public charging stations is 11 kW.
The ID. Cross includes vehicle-to-load as standard, allowing the charging of electric equipment externally via the charging socket, with an optional adapter.
A newly developed adaptive DCC suspension will be available as an option for the more powerful variant (155 KW).
With the 52 kWh battery, the ID. Cross will be able to tow trailers with a weight of up to 1,200 kg.
