Independent, Expert EV Reviews & Advice Since 2006

CUPRA

CUPRA is now a fully independent brand within the Volkswagen Group, having grown out of SEAT’s performance division in 2018. The Born – a hot-hatch sibling to the VW ID.3, built on the MEB platform – was the brand’s first stand-alone model and remains its most important EV. It has since been joined by the Tavascan, a coupe-SUV built in China that is the brand’s first fully bespoke design, and the new Raval small electric hatchback (due 2026) will sit beneath the Born on the new MEB+ platform. Plug-in hybrid versions of the Formentor and Leon continue. CUPRA has a distinct design language built around copper accents and angular surfacing, and the brand is increasingly sold separately from SEAT, including via dedicated CUPRA Garages.
