Lotus is no longer just the lightweight British sports car maker associated with the Elise. Under Chinese owner Geely, the brand has reinvented itself as an electric performance marque with three core products: the Eletre large SUV (Lotus’s first SUV ever, and its first volume-production EV), the Emeya four-door GT, and the £2-million Evija hypercar. The Emira mid-engined petrol sports car continues as the last internal-combustion Lotus, but the brand’s future is built on the Geely-developed EPA platform shared with Volvo, Polestar and Zeekr. Lotus also operates a separate joint venture in Wuhan, China, where the Eletre and Emeya are built. The Hethel factory in Norfolk continues to make the Emira and Evija, preserving Lotus’s UK manufacturing heritage.
