Volkswagen has revealed the all-electric ID. Polo, the EV successor to one of VW’s best-selling nameplates, with prices in Germany starting from 24,995 Euros and UK details to follow.
Built on the new MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive, the ID. Polo will be offered in three power outputs: 85kW (116PS), 99kW (135PS) and 155kW (211PS). The two lower outputs use a 37kWh net LFP battery for up to 329km (around 204 miles) WLTP range and 23-minute 10% to 80% rapid charging. The 155kW version uses a 52kWh NMC battery for up to 454km (around 282 miles) WLTP range, charging at up to 105kW DC for a 10% to 80% top-up in around 24 minutes. DC quick-charging is standard across the range.
Despite being 4,053mm long fractionally longer than the outgoing combustion Polo, the ID. Polo benefits from MEB+ packaging to deliver significantly more cabin space and a 441-litre boot (351 litres in the old Polo), expanding to 1,240 litres with the seats folded.
Inside, the cockpit pairs a 10-inch Digital Cockpit with a 13-inch Innovision infotainment screen. A “retro display” mode reformats both screens to evoke the Mk1 Golf including a cassette-tape track listing. Connected Travel Assist with traffic-light recognition is offered as an option a first in this class. One-pedal driving is standard, as is Vehicle-to-Load at up to 3.6kW for powering external devices.
The German line-up consists of three trims: Trend (entry, with DC quick-charging, LED headlights, the 13-inch infotainment system and key assist functions); Life (adding adaptive cruise control, rear-view camera, front parking sensors and inductive phone charging); and Style (top-spec, with IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, sports comfort seats, heated steering wheel and seat heating).
UK pricing and specification will be confirmed by Volkswagen UK closer to launch. The 24,995 Euros entry price converts to roughly £21,300 at current exchange rates, but UK list prices are typically set independently. The Life trim with the 211PS 155kW motor and 52kWh battery starts at 33,795 Euros in Germany at market launch.
The standard ID. Polo arrives alongside the separately revealed ID. Polo GTI, the first all-electric GTI in the badge’s 50-year history.
