The ranges you’ll see stated for electric cars are calculated by the manufacturers during testing. The conditions of those tests can be closer to ideal conditions than real-life driving, meaning the quoted EV ranges can be on the optimistic side.
Here, we only quote ranges given from WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) testing, rather than the older NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) test. WLTP ranges are considered to be more realistic.

The current king of the road when it comes to range, the Mercedes EQS 450+ (the electric version of its S-Class), is a spacious luxury saloon that offers a performance as impressive as its level of comfort. Thanks to the car’s massive 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery and its aerodynamic styling, the Mercedes EQS can be driven up to 481 miles on one charge – that’s more than enough to drive from London to Edinburgh.

The performance model of the all new A6 electric, the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron delivers on the gorgeous styling, superb drive, and technology you’d expect from an Audi. Incorporating the VW Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, the A6 Sportback e-tron can be charged from 10% to 80% battery capacity in a little over 20 minutes using an ultra-rapid DC charger. A full battery can support a range of up to 463 miles.

Volvo’s flagship model of its Polestar range, the Polestar 3 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV that blends elegant Scandinavian minimalist design with impressive battery capabilities. All Polestar 3 models incorporate a high-capacity 111 kWh battery and highly-efficient motor technology, providing impressive ranges. The Long Range, Single Motor model is capable of an impressive 438 miles – that’s more than enough to drive from Stockholm to Copenhagen.

Launched in July 2024, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron is an impressively styled estate version of their electric A6 car. As well as its exceptional styling and excellent drive, the A6 Avant e-tron offers plenty of space in its luxurious interior. Also featuring VW’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) technology, the A6 Avant e-tron can be charged rapidly and offers a maximum driving range of up to 437 miles.

Mercedes’s electric luxury executive sedan, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ offers the understated yet elegant styling you’d expect from Mercedes. Plus it has a highly comfortable interior and a refined driving experience. With its 100 kWh lithium-ion battery and fast charging technology, the EQE 350+ can be charged from 10% to 80% battery capacity in around 32 minutes using a 110 kW rapid charger. It offers a maximum range of up to 431 miles.

Made under Volvo’s Polestar sub-brand, the Polestar 2 is an electric 5-door ‘liftback’ – a more gently sloping version of a hatchback. As well as offering Polestar’s distinctive styling, smooth drive, and sophisticated in-cabin tech, the Polestar 2 also delivers on practicality with plenty of boot space. The car’s 78 kWh battery offers up to 406 miles of range on a full charge, further adding to the Polestar 2’s appeal as a fantastic-looking yet practical electric car.

That practicality is further enhanced by the Capri’s impressive range, with the rear-wheel drive extended-range option packing a 77 kWh battery and offering a maximum range of up to 389 miles.

The electric update of BMW’s celebrated 7 Series large luxury sedans, the i7 xDrive60 Excellence is a 7 Series through and through. A full-size electric sedan, the BMW i7 xDrive60 Excellence delivers a refined driving experience, a sumptuous interior, and plenty of in-car tech – this includes a 360-degree camera system and an optional large-scale theatre screen in the back. With a high-capacity 101.7 kWh battery, the i7 xDrive60 Excellence can reach a maximum driving range of up to 387 miles.

The top of the range of Volkswagen’s purpose-built electric car family, the VW ID.7 is a five-door upper mid-size fastback saloon with slick looks, plenty of space in the back, and loads of legroom. Using VW’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) technology, carrying a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery, and featuring an aerodynamic body with a low drag coefficient, the ID.7 can squeeze out a maximum range of 383 miles from a full charge.

The SUV compatriot to the EQS saloon, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is an electric, full-size, seven-seater, luxury crossover suburban utility vehicle. As you’d expect from Mercedes, the EQS SUV has an impressive interior offering a large amount of space. It’s packed with technology too, including a massive ‘Hyperscreen’ dashboard screen in the Business Class model, individual screens behind the passenger seats, and an MBUX rear tablet. With its substantial 118 kWh battery, the EQS SUV can reach a maximum range of up to 364 miles.
