The Genesis Electrified GV70 has been updated for 2025; adding to its already long list of attributes such as an extremely comfortable driving experience, it now gains a longer driving range and new interior tech.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 is one of our favourite EVs because it delivers a driving experience that is extremely comfortable and refined, whilst offering lots of power and grip, as well as having a user-friendly cabin, all in a body with practical amounts of space. The GV70, which was launched in 2022 and is the brand’s most popular model in Europe, has now been updated for 2025; some of the changes are relatively modest, but perhaps this is an EV didn’t need that many improvements…

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is an SUV measuring 4,715mm in length with 503 litres of luggage space in the boot (or 1,678 litres with the rear seats folded) and a further 25 litres of luggage space under the bonnet. There are a few small changes to the front and rear styling for the 2025 model year update, including new ‘Micro-Lens Array’ headlights, but the overall design is largely unchanged; there appear to be a few influences from brands such as Mercedes behind the styling, and you’re left with the feeling that the GV70 has been designed with North American markets in mind.
One change for 2025 is a larger battery, which is now 84.0 kWh, compared to the 77.4 kWh battery of the previous model, resulting in a modest increase in range. There’s a 245 PS/350Nm electric motor powering the front wheels and another 245 PS/350Nm electric motor powering the rear wheels, delivering 490 PS and 700 Nm in total together with all-wheel drive.
Inside, the cabin gains a new integrated 27-inch OLED infotainment touchscreen and cluster display.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 has a 1,800 kg (braked) towing capacity.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 delivers an extremely comfortable and refined driving experience, with lots of performance (0-62 mph in 5.0 seconds, or 4.4 seconds if you press the boost mode on the steering wheel), and the all-wheel drive system provides reassuring levels of grip. Ride quality is excellent (‘Preview Electronic Control Suspension’ aims to look at the road ahead and smooth out any imperfections), and the handling is more rewarding than you might expect for an SUV weighing 2,335 kg – Dynamic Torque Vectoring may play a part here, by distributing appropriate torque to each wheel from the electric motor.
There are three drive modes: Eco, Comfort and Sport, as well as off-road drive modes of Mud, Sand or Snow, and a new AI E-Terrain Mode analyses the road surface in real time to automatically select the appropriate terrain.
The gear selector is a rotary dial between the front seats, and steering wheel-mounted paddles allow you to adjust the level of brake regeneration, which is the best solution for this. A new feature is Virtual Gear Shift technology, selectable via the touchscreen, simulating the behaviour of a conventional gearbox with the aim of offering an increased level of engagement.
The GV70 is very quiet, with the notable absence of road noise from the large tyres that is common in large electric SUVs, thanks in part to Active Road Noise Cancelling (standard in Luxury trim).
The cabin features a new integrated 27-inch OLED Infotainment Touchscreen and Cluster Display, as well as a Head-up Display. Increasing numbers of new cars have all car controls and information just on a central touchscreen, but the GV70 retains a physical rotary dial for the touchscreen (which is, potentially confusingly, located right next to the rotary gear selector dial), there are even some physical buttons, and a separate screen for heating and ventilation controls. The entire dashboard looks good and works well.
One of the many excellent features on the GV70 is the ability to switch off the lane departure warning system with one press of a button on the steering wheel.
An optional switchable Digital Centre Mirror (DCM) can display images from a rear-facing camera – which is particularly helpful if the boot is full of luggage.
A new ‘Mood Curator’ offers four interior modes – Vitality, Delight, Care and Comfort – combining music, an aroma diffuser, interior ambient lighting and seat massage function (available to models with Ergo Motion technology).

The Genesis Electrified GV70’s new 84 kWh battery delivers an increased combined WLTP range of 298 miles in entry-level Pure trim. In Luxury trim, as tested, this reduces to 287 miles. It wasn’t possible to test the real-world range as part of the relatively short first drive review.
The 800V electrical architecture (which, importantly, can also charge at 400V) delivers a maximum ultra-rapid charging rate of 240 kW; 233 kW was quoted for the previous model. A 10% to 80% DC charge should take just 19 minutes, helped by ‘Battery Conditioning 2.0’ which regulates cell temperature with cooling and pre-heating, which can now be operated manually.
The GV70 features a standard heat pump on all models for efficient cabin and battery temperature management and a heated charging door. It also has vehicle to load (V2L) functionality, via an adaptor connected to the external charging port, allowing you to power electrical appliances or even other electric vehicles.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is now available in a choice of three specifications in the UK: Pure, from £65,915; Dynamic, from £70,715; and Luxury, from £74,915. Our test car was an Electrified GV70 Luxury with options of Storr Green Metallic paint (£810), Comfort Pack (£1,070), Nappa Leather Seat Pack (£2,500), Serenity Pack (£260), Vehicle to Load Pack (£890), White Brake Calipers (£320) and Digital Centre Mirror (£420), taking the total price to £81,185.
A choice of 13 colour options are available including Matte, Metallic, Pearl and Solid finishes.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is an excellent car to drive. It offers comfort, performance, grip, refinement and space. Although it’s a heavy electric SUV, it’s more rewarding to drive than many rivals. The dashboard works well in terms of style and substance, and it can ultra-rapid charge. Some of the updates for the 2025 model year may be relatively minor, but they help to improve what was already a very good EV. With prices ranging from £65,915 to £74,915, the Genesis Electrified GV70 isn’t the most affordable of EVs, but it retains its Green Car Guide rating of 9 out of 10.
